Automation of manual work by RPA reduces work hours to 1/12th.
The Co-op Deli Consumers' Co-operative Union, which brings smiles to dining tables through its home delivery business, storefront business, and other services with a priority on food safety and security, has seven member co-ops in Tokyo and seven prefectures and is chosen by more than 4.85 million members (as of June 2018).
As a federation of co-ops in the Kanto region, the Co-op Deli Co-operative Union (hereinafter referred to as "Co-op Deli Union") has developed a common infrastructure for products, logistics, production, systems, accounting, and personnel training, and has jointly created headquarters functions for the home delivery business, store business, and service business.
In this interview, we asked about examples of "HUE Classic" AC series utilization, RPA implementation, and its specific effects for the entire group, including nine subsidiaries.
HUE Classic" × RPA automates manual work
Co-op Deli Federation operates home delivery, store, mutual aid/insurance, welfare, and service businesses in seven member cooperatives in the Kanto and Shinetsu regions. The Co-op Deli Federation serves as the common infrastructure for the headquarter functions and indirect divisions of each business.
HUE Classic" AC Series[i] was introduced in December 2016 and went live in December 2017 at the Co-op Deli Federation and its seven member cooperatives. With the introduction of "HUE Classic," the Association took the opportunity to review its operations in line with the system and, at the same time, established a financial accounting infrastructure that included nine subsidiaries in March 2018. Since then, the company has been actively promoting the digitization of its operations and has achieved, among other things, a halving of budget management operations, fund management operations, and fixed asset management operations.
In addition, while considering the introduction of RPA for the purpose of further streamlining the overall operations of the Co-op Deli Federation, the company began considering the use of RPA in accounting operations, and by using Works' RPA implementation service "Robot Creation Service" from November 2018, automation of data creation and importing operations by RPA was This service has realized the automation of data creation and capture tasks by RPA.

In order to reap the benefits of RPA at an early stage, Coopdeli Federation proceeded with a practical introduction, starting with operations where RPA can be expected to significantly reduce work hours.
Using the "Robot Creation Service" provided by WORKS, RPA was incorporated into some of the tasks that had previously been performed manually, such as creating materials to be distributed to member cooperatives and converting handwritten slips and other documents into data.

When we were first considering the use of RPA, we thought it would be better to eliminate the use of handwritten slips, for example. However, eliminating handwritten slips would require a major change in operations at each site, which in turn would increase the workload. We concluded that the best process for the entire group would be to use RPA to automate the process of data creation when importing handwritten slips into the system, and chose to use RPA. We found it very beneficial that Works' "Robot Creation Service" even provided us with a lecture on how to use RPA, considering the ease of maintenance within our company in the future."
