Mitsui Chemicals Tocello, Inc. is a leading Japanese materials processing company focusing on films and sheets, and is working to strengthen its technological innovation and cost competitiveness by establishing an integrated system from raw material resins to processing of films and sheets.
From 2010 to 2011, the company gradually integrated the different businesses of Tocello Corporation, Mitsui Chemicals Fabro Corporation, and Mitsui Chemicals Inc. Each of the former companies had its own sales and logistics operations, but in order to strengthen competitiveness, Mitsui Chemicals Tohcello decided to reorganize these operations and integrate them into a single core system that would serve as a common business platform for the entire company.
The cost of the current package had doubled from the original estimate due to customization and add-ons, so the key factor in selecting a new system was how to maintain and improve the usability of the current system while reducing construction risks.

Adoption of "HUE Classic" to meet industry-specific functions and future requirements with standard functions

In selecting a system for Mitsui Chemicals Tohcello, it was necessary to address industry-specific requirements (*) such as processing processes and unique business practices that would require additional development for a standard system.
HUE Classic" included such functions that had previously been built through customization and add-ons as standard functions, allowing us to switch from the old system without additional development.
In the SCM domain, where operations are complex and diverse, the development concept of "HUE Classic," which permanently adds user needs to standard functions free of charge, avoids the risk of costs increasing from the time of quotation, ensures versatility, reduces maintenance costs, and breaks away from the domino effect.
This concept was highly evaluated by management for its flexibility to accommodate future changes in operations and for its ability to visualize costs over time.

In addition, despite being a package, the screen configuration and item transitions can be flexibly configured to maintain the familiar usability of the previous system. This made it possible to process a large volume of orders while maintaining operational efficiency, and the system was highly evaluated by on-site personnel.

Inventory Allowance Proposal Function

For each order item or pre-defined substitute item, the system proposes an allowance candidate, taking into account the distance from the warehouse with jurisdiction or the delivery destination to the shipping warehouse, etc. This contributes to the prevention of lost order opportunities and the reduction of excess inventory.

Item characteristics management function

The system supports inventory management, order management, and shipment management by item characteristics such as width, length, thickness, and packing style, and can convert various units of measure to provide efficient support from order receipt to shipment under a wide range of sales conditions.

Multi-unit management function

Supports multiple units of inventory management for the same item. Automatic conversion between multiple units is possible when there is a discrepancy between the units used for inventory management and those used for invoicing (e.g., volume and kilograms), thereby reducing conversion work.

Expanding the use of "HUE Classic" to further strengthen management

HUE Classic" is a system that allows the company to select and implement only the functions it needs from a large number of standard functions. This method enabled the company to achieve a smoother operation compared to the past system construction.

In the future, the company plans to expand the use of "HUE Classic" functions in order to reduce inventory and shorten logistics lead time.
For example, in addition to the aforementioned "Inventory Allowance Candidate Proposal" function, the company plans to implement a "Warehouse-to-Warehouse Transfer Allowance Function" as a free version upgrade, which will make it possible to make allowances for scheduled warehouse transfers. This will have a significant effect in preventing the loss of order opportunities, reducing costs through the reduction of excess inventory, and reducing inventory holding risk.
In this way, "HUE Classic" will continue to support the company's ongoing business improvement and management enhancement.
