Background of Adoption and Significance as CSR
WAP believes that creating an environment in which a diverse workforce can maximize their abilities will lead to the growth of the entire organization. This recruitment is an effort to foster a corporate culture in which everyone can be their own person, empathizing with Kanayama's embodiment of the attitude to continue taking on challenges. Through support for the activities of para-athletes, we hope to create an organization that respects diversity and creates new value.
Support for the creation of an environment in which athletes can concentrate on competition
Kanayama, who lives in Osaka City, had to give up his job for a while due to worsening eye disease while in high school. He graduated in 2024 and joined WAP in September. Until then, he had been competing as an individual without any specific affiliation, but now he is in a stable environment where he can concentrate on his sport.
With no regular work obligations at WAP, Kanayama practices five or six days a week for two to four hours, sometimes as long as six hours, at gyms, stadiums, and high schools. This season, when he will be wearing the new WAP logo uniform, he is targeting the Japan Para Athletics Championships as well as the Japan Para Athletics Championships in Miyagi Prefecture in June.
Kanayama's challenge and our attitude as a company
WAP hopes to instill a culture of challenge and growth within the organization through the image of Kanayama taking on the world stage. This initiative is more than just CSR; it embodies WAP's corporate philosophy of "maximizing corporate and individual value.
Prior to the start of the season, Kanayama received encouragement from Mr. Hata, a representative of the company, at the Tokyo Head Office. Kanayama said, "I will contribute in a different way from other employees, but I will devote myself to giving back to the company through my athletic performance.
WAP will continue to promote the creation of an environment where diverse human resources can play their own roles, fulfill its social responsibility as a corporation, and aim for sustainable growth.
