WorksWay 2023: Accelerating the Reinforcement of Management Foundations through the Wisdom of Pioneers

(Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Osamu Hata; hereafter "WAP") will hold the two-day online business forum "WorksWay 2023: Defend, Break, Divest" on Wednesday, July 19 and Thursday, July 20, 2023, with the theme of accelerating the strengthening of management foundations through the wisdom of pioneers. The forum will be held online for two days on Wednesday, July 19 and Thursday, July 20, 2023.

What is WorksWay 2023?
WorksWay" is an annual business forum held by WAP with a theme that matches the current trends of the year in the hope that it will help Japanese companies develop management strategies and solve business issues.
This year's theme is "Mori-Ba-Ri," which is derived from the Japanese words that describe the process of learning art and geido. This event will provide CXOs and department heads who support corporate management with information on how to "protect" the essence of the business they have built, "break" and develop the status quo by learning from the wisdom of the pioneers, "break away" from existing concepts, and take on the challenge of creating new value.
The main target departments are corporate planning, information systems, and accounting/finance/purchasing divisions. Last year, more than 2,600 people from 1,700 companies registered for the event, and the overall satisfaction rate for the sessions was extremely high, at 96%, including satisfied and somewhat satisfied.

Mr. Kusunoki, an expert in competitive strategy, and Mr. Hirai, the first Minister of Digital, will deliver keynote speeches during the two days of WorksWay.

Profile:
He has served as a member of the Industrial Structure Council of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, a board member of the Organization Studies Association, a member of the Management Advisory Board of All Nippon Airways Co. Author of many books, including "Competitive Strategy as a Story: Conditions for Superior Strategy" (2010, Toyo Keizai Inc.).

"The Foundational Logic of Competitive Strategy"
Abstract:
The goal of corporate activities is long-term profit. Competitive strategy is the means to realize long-term profit in competition. The essence of competitive strategy is uniqueness - making the difference between a company and its competitors. In this lecture, we will clarify the unchanging logic underlying competitive strategy.

Takuya Hirai, Member of the House of Representatives, Director General, Digital Society Promotion Headquarters, Liberal Democratic Party
Profile:
He has served as Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Cabinet. In the 4th Abe Cabinet reshuffle in 2008, he was appointed Minister of State for IT and Minister of State for Science and Technology, Intellectual Property Strategy, Cool Japan Strategy, and Space Policy. In 2020, he was appointed Minister of State for Digital Reform in the Kan Cabinet. He became the first Minister of Digital Policy in 2021.
