(Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Masahiko Miyahara; hereinafter referred to as "WAPE") has been appointed as a secretariat of the Digital Invoice Promotion Council (Representative Director: Koichiro Okamoto) as of September 1, 2012. The Council has approximately 200 member corporations and individuals. Of these, WAPE and the other 10 managing corporations will form the Executive Committee, which will be responsible for the management of the Council.
Background of Appointment as Executive Committee
The Council was established in July 2020 as the Electronic Invoice Promotion Council and changed its name to the current Digital Invoice Promotion Council in June 2010. It promotes the digitization of the entire accounting and tax-related business through the utilization and dissemination of standardized digital invoices based on the international standard Peppol.
WAPE's mission is to improve the productivity of Japanese companies and change the concept of work, and to fundamentally improve the productivity of business transactions. WAPE believes that in order to radically improve the productivity of business transactions and change the concept of work, it is of the utmost importance that both parties involved in a transaction are able to work together without missing information. We strongly agree with the objectives of the CIPP, which aims to transform business operations through digital invoicing, and joined as a full member immediately after its establishment. In particular, we have been active in the formulation of standard specifications. We would like to put more effort into the activities of the council, and we have requested to become an executive committee member, which was approved.
Improving a wide range of business operations through the use of digital invoicing
The companies participating in the council and the Digital Agency are working together to develop the standard specifications, and the key issue for the future is how to promote digital invoicing to Japanese companies. In order to improve the productivity of business transactions using digital invoicing, it is necessary for both companies doing business with each other to take action. In the case of transactions between large companies and small and midsize companies, only the large companies with the investment capacity to support the system will be able to benefit from it.
The key to widespread adoption is the type of Products / Services that can be offered, and Works Applications Group, including WAPE, has a proven track record of improving the productivity of a wide range of companies' accounting operations. Our strength is that we can leverage this experience to propose improvements not only in invoice-related operations but also in a wide range of other operations, including payment and collection, using digital invoicing.
We are certain that the widespread use of digital invoicing will lead to a drastic improvement in productivity. We will propose Products / Services that enable not only large companies but also small, medium, and start-up companies to use digital invoices and digitalize their business transactions. As a first step, we will soon announce the product outline of "HUE Digital Invoice," which is low-cost and has a relatively short time to market.
