Jul. 27, 2022
(Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Osamu Hata) announces that Works Applications Group (hereinafter "the Group") has begun recruiting and training IT personnel through a "step-up training system" and introducing a "relaxed side job and 3-4 days off per week" system on a trial basis at its Kumamoto office. The Kumamoto office is located in Kumamoto, Japan.
The Kumamoto office was opened in February 2021 to distribute customer support functions from the perspective of BCP (Business Continuity Plan). Since its opening, the office has served as a leading base for implementing new ways of working for the Works Applications Group, supporting employees' relocation to Kumamoto City, and recruiting local human resources to revitalize the local community. This time, we will start a "step-up training system" that will lead to the development of IT human resources in Kumamoto Prefecture, and a trial introduction of a "relaxed side job and 3-4 days off per week system" to promote diverse work styles.
Outline of the "Step-up Training System
1. About the "Step-up Training System
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has announced that there will be a shortage of up to 790,000 IT personnel in Japan by 2030. (*1) (*1). (*1) IT personnel are particularly concentrated in IT companies in Tokyo, and there is a shortage of IT personnel to promote digitalization in the region. (*2) (*2), and the development of IT human resources in the region is one of the challenges in promoting DX in Japan.
On the other hand, in Kumamoto Prefecture, where the Kumamoto office is located, there are few job openings for IT-related positions, making it difficult for inexperienced IT professionals to start their careers. One of our missions is to "provide critical workers with opportunities for success," and we hope to create Products / Services that contribute to the development of society by providing opportunities for talented people to fully demonstrate their abilities. Therefore, we have established this training program in order to provide an environment where even inexperienced employees can play an active role as IT personnel in the region.
Specifically, for the first six months after joining the company, step-up training and practical work will be conducted in parallel as a nurturing period. Upon successful completion of the entire training program, the trainee will have acquired the necessary IT human resources skills. The training is divided into multiple stages, with tests administered at each stage to ensure steady skill improvement. In addition, your annual salary will also increase according to your performance in the training.
Comments from a Works Applications Group recruiter]
At Works Applications Group, we call people with high problem-finding and problem-solving skills "critical workers," and one of our missions is to "provide opportunities for critical workers to play an active role. We have long been identifying high-potential people with the potential to become critical workers, developing them from inexperienced IT professionals to highly skilled IT professionals, and providing them with opportunities to play an active role in the company. We would like to start a training program at the Kumamoto office that inherits this philosophy, providing opportunities for those who want to play an active role as IT personnel and contributing to the promotion of DX in Japan through the development of IT personnel in the Kumamoto region.

2. Initiatives as a leading center for new ways of working
Aiming to create an environment in which critical workers can maximize their abilities, the Group has introduced a full flextime system, a flex leave system that allows individuals to change specific leave days at their discretion, and a work system that in principle allows telework to the extent that it does not interfere with business operations. In order to further promote flexible work styles, the Kumamoto office has started the following initiatives.
Support system for employees to move to Kumamoto City (starting in October 2020)
In addition to the teleworking system, we are supporting employees to move to Kumamoto City in order to realize more innovative work styles. All full-time employees, not only those in charge of customer support operations whose functions have been decentralized to the Kumamoto office, will be eligible for this program, and those who move to Kumamoto will receive a special allowance.
■Partial relaxation of side jobs and a 3-day/4-day workweek system (starting April 2022)
The purpose of this program is to enrich the lives of employees by allowing them to experience diverse values in a wide range of fields beyond the scope of the Group's business, such as by making use of the skills, experience, and personal connections they have acquired outside of work to engage in social contribution activities.
